Biography:

Francesco Acciai is a fifth year doctoral candidate in Sociology and Demography at the Pennsylvania State University. He specializes in the study of demography, as well as health, economic, and racial inequalities. His recent research has focused on the decomposition of lifespan variability and racial inequality in life expectancy in the United States, and on cross-national comparative analysis of physical and mental health among older Europeans. He is coauthor of “Why is there greater variance in the lifespan of blacks than of whites in the United States?” in Demography and of “How health conditions translate into self-ratings: A comparative study of older adults across Europe” in the Journal of Social Science and Health Behavior.
